Ferandina Beach, FL
NoLL
In yesterday's blog I said that weather Guru Chris Parker had said that Sunday night would not be a good night to be off the coast of Georgia. There was potential of a tropical story formation. The official NOAA weather service data contradicted him. They said the tropical storm broke up and their forecasts for wind and waves showed mild conditions. Guess what? Chris was right. Numerous boats, including some very big ones, tried to leave Ferandina this morning, but they all came back saying "too rough." I guess that's why we call Chris a guru but we never say that about the NOAA National Weather Service. The bottom line: we are really glad that we arrived yesterday rather than today.
We're glad to be back in Florida. The temperatures and humidity yesterday and today have been so pleasant. Today it's partly rainy and blustery, bus in between it still feels good. Can't stay here too long though. Florida north of Vero Beach gets pretty cold in winter.
Tonight, we're invited to dinner with Charlie and Mary. That is a couple that we met two years ago at the Welcome Center on the Great Dismal Swamp Canal. Cool.
